Watr is a collection of serveware that I created for Rayden Design Studio in Pune, India. The project is a range of serveware made of copper, a material that has been used for centuries in India for its health benefits and aesthetic appeal. It pays homage to the ancient tradition of storing and purifying water in copper vessels, which is still practised by some people today. The Watr collection consists of a carafe, glasses, a mini-carafe and a storage vessel, each with a unique design and function. The collection aims to evoke a sense of nostalgia and appreciation for the old and the new, the simple and the sophisticated, the natural and the crafted.
The project explores the process of spinning and hammering copper to create different shapes and textures that reflect the fluidity and versatility of water. The project also pays homage to the ancient tradition of storing and purifying water in copper vessels, which is still practiced by some people today.
